ANY OPEN SCHOOLING PROGRAMMES QUALIFIED STUDENTS CAN APPLY FOR PHARMACY RELATED COURSES

The attention of the Head of Institutions noted in the address entry is invited to the references cited (copies enclosed). It is often noticed that students who have passed from Open Schooling System and foreign boards are admitted into D. Pharm course in many of the Private Self-financing Colleges without verifying the authenticity. „Though instructions are issued from time to time in this regard, it is noted that admissions are made for students who have passed their HSC / equivalent qualification through unauthorized Boards.

As per the PCI’s circulars in the reference 1t and 2nd cited, the students who have passed from Open Schooling System of the Central Govt. / State Government are eligible for admission to Pharmacy courses. But it is not-known as to whether the Open Schools from which the students have passed out and got admitted into Pharmacy courses are approved by the Central Government of India / State Government.

Moreover, certain students have completed their HSC / equivalent qualification through certain foreign Boards and it is not known as to whether those qualifications obtained through foreign Boards are equivalent to Indian qualifications. Now the PCI in the circular 3d cited has stated that if equivalence is granted by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) then the same, shall be treated as deemed to have been approved by the PCI, and if the said information is not available on AIU website / Handbook or AlU has not granted equivalence then the institution can approach the PCI.

Therefore, the Head of Institutions are instructed to make admissions carefully from the AY 2020-21, by following the instructions-issued by the PCI from time to time in this regard. If students from Open Schooling System are approaching for admission then the Head of Institution is requested to obtain a certificate from the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE), Delhi by applying to them and if that Open Schooling Board is a member of COBSE, then to make admission; otherwise it is

instructed not to admit such candidates into Pharmacy courses.

If students who have completed their HSC / equivalent qualification through certain foreign Boards are approaching for admission, then the Head of Institution is requested to obtain equivalence from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi by applying to them and then to make admission; otherwise it is instructed not to admit such candidates into Pharmacy courses.

Hence ‘it is instructed that if students who have passed their HSC / equivalent qualification through Open Schooling or through Foreign Boards then the above instructions should be strictly followed and the member certificate / equivalence certificate from the COBSE / AIU as the case may be, has to be obtained and then only admissions to be made from the AY 2020-21. Otherwise those candidates will not be registered by this Board of Pharmacy and this Directorate is not responsible for the consequences.
